Optimized Charging Feature Like iOS opted by OnePlus......

Unfortunately, the reality is that our phones often survive on batteries that power them. Although a newly purchased phone can last for more than a day without recharging, the battery capacity will decrease in a few years, leading to a decrease in battery performance. The problem is so widespread that Apple even had some of its famous devices, because the batteries could no longer permanently power the components of the phone. Some phone manufacturers have tried to reduce this degradation by introducing software solutions that prevent phones from working for a long time with 100% autonomy. We've seen it from Asus and Apple, and even from automaker Tesla, and OnePlus has now opened its version of this feature.

A common cause of battery degradation is user behavior. Although we no longer worry about overcharging our devices, leaving them plugged in overnight, lithium-ion batteries don't like being charged to full capacity - as if they were charged for several hours. The longer the battery remains fully charged, the greater the wear, which leads to a decrease in the battery capacity over time. Tesla has decided to tackle this problem in their electric cars, offering drivers the option of limiting the battery charge of the car so that the battery charge never exceeds a certain percentage.

What is Optimized Battery Charging

Apple and Asus are taking a more subtle approach, limiting the time it takes to fully charge the phone. Asus allows you to manually enter the charging time of your phone, while Apple's implementation uses behavioral training to determine how to charge. This function is activated when you charge the phone at night, limiting it to a smaller capacity, then fully recharging when you approach the moment when you are likely to start using it again.

The Oneplus optimized charging function works the same way, only charging your phone 100% when you need it. It does this by predicting when the phone will be needed in the morning, based on alarms, calendar and current user behavior. This feature was released on OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro as part of Oxygen OS Open Beta 7 last month, and we will likely see more models in the near future, as well as stable versions of the OnePlus firmware. If you are in beta and want to activate it, go to the "Battery settings" section and activate advanced charging. You will receive a notification that it is active and you can deactivate it to continue normal charging if you plan to turn off the phone sooner than usual.

As other manufacturers use these battery protection features, I hope in the future this will also satisfy Android. The increased battery life negates the main reason why you may need to replace the phone and create a more valuable device in the process.
